Two Weeks with Luxora: What Kept Me Playing
I went into Luxora expecting another auto-battler with a story bolted on. What I got was a surprisingly warm RPG that actually asked me to make choices. The setup is simple — you return to a fading city and slowly bring it back to life — but the loop of questing, recruiting and rebuilding got its hooks in me fast.
The combat deserves the most credit. It's turn-based on a small grid, and instead of tapping through a wall of menus you drag abilities onto targets and hold to preview the outcome. Early fights you can automate, but boss encounters reward manual play and smart positioning. It's the rare mobile RPG that feels tuned for a phone rather than ported to one.
Progression is generous. Skill points come at a steady clip, respeccing costs almost nothing, and I never felt walled off by an artificial power gap. That freedom made me experiment with builds I'd normally ignore, and a couple of them completely changed how I played.
If I have a complaint, it's that the middle chapters sag a little — a few too many fetch quests before the story picks back up. Push through, though, and the later branching quests pay it off. After two weeks I still open Luxora most nights, which is about the highest praise I can give a mobile RPG.
My advice: don't rush the side characters. Talk to everyone, do their quests, and the ending lands harder for it.
